Maika Holdings Berhad, MHB, Embodies a very exciting and imaginative concept of a bold and concerted socio-economic endeavour to provide a better life for Malaysian Indians. The company is run as a commercially viable concern but its primary objective is that it represents the focus of the efforts of Malaysian Indians to increase their share in the growing corporate sector of Malaysia.

Under the chairmanship of Dato S. Samy Vellu, the President of the Malaysian Indian Congress, a group of committed and concerted politicians, professionals and businessmen got together in 1982 to plan for the establishment of a holding company.

Their dedicated efforts brought forth the birth of Maika Holdings Berhad, a company which manifests the hopes and aspirations of Malaysian Indians for socio-economic advancement and a better future.

MHB intends to develop as a viable, commercial organisation to achieve the following objectives:
· To increase the share of Indian Equity Ownership in the Corporate Sector;
· To increase the employment opportunities particularly in the modern high productivity and high income sector;
· To act as a catalyst for the development of Entrepreneurship and to foster managerial talents;
· To promote the economic and the general well-being of the Indian community and encourage greater self reliance;
· To promote inter-ethnic economic co-operation inline with the New Economic Policy;
To contribute to the growth of the National Economy as a responsible corporate citizen

PERFORMANCE

Over the years the Company has evolved into a strong unit despite the many ups & downs it has encountered due to economic downturns and other invariable factors.

The Company in the fast changing scenario of business opportunities is re-grouping on CORE business which can help in sustaining the original objectives vis-à-vis the present plans to consolidate the Insurance and Property Development activities and create a strong Asset Base for long term revenue flow and take the opportunity in the Sunrise Industry prevailing in the country with its presence on an large encompass in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
